Newstead Wood School

Code of Conduct

Students who feel secure, valued and have a high self esteem are more likely to make appropriate
choices about their own behaviour and to succeed socially and academically.

To this end the conduct of all staff and students within the school community should reflect our
shared values and ensure that all students are

  • Treated as individuals, respected and cared for in a way that develops a positive self image
(irrespective of race, colour, religion or physical disability).
  • Aware that choices need to be made about behaviour.
  • Encouraged to take responsibility for their behaviour and conduct.
  • Encouraged to set their own targets, monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Valued as members of the school community (irrespective of race, colour, religion or
    physical disability).
  • Encouraged to contribute to the ethos of the whole school.

All staff have a key role to play in developing these attributes by actively encouraging and, where necessary, teaching appropriate behaviour and conduct. They should act as role models for students.
