PET Providing Excellence Together

“Newstead Wood rises 18 places to number 31 in The Sunday Times Top 200 State Secondary Schools rankings”

It’s wonderful news and as parents/carers, we can rightly feel proud of the achievements of students and staff at our school. We want Newstead Wood to continue to provide the best possible learning opportunities for our children and maintain its outstanding educational standards. However, our school faces significant challenges.

Newstead Wood, in common with many state-funded schools, is greatly affected by cuts in Government funding at the present time. Our school has seen a reduction in the region of £300,000 in the current year and it is likely that the reduction will be similar for the next three years. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing our students with the best possible education but this will be a greater challenge than ever given the severity of the cuts.

The school urgently needs to obtain additional funding. To meet this challenge, we are launching our Providing Excellence Together (PET) campaign which is being run by a group of parents working with the school’s senior leadership team to raise significant additional funding for our school.

We are requesting that all parents and carers now join us in a partnership to ensure that Newstead Wood’s long tradition of exceptionally high academic achievement in a nurturing environment is maintained. We would like every family who is able to do so to make a regular contribution to the Newstead Wood PET Fund. We are suggesting a contribution of £50 per month. With Gift Aid, your annual donation of £600 will be worth £750 to the school. We understand that not everyone is in a position to give this amount and in this case, we simply request that you consider giving a lower contribution and/or volunteer your time to either help the PET team or support Parents’ Association fundraising events.

Our combined support really can impact upon the future of our children’s education.

The enclosed contribution forms give details on how to contribute to the fund with additional information also provided in the Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any further questions, please contact us at

Thank you so much for your support!

Yours sincerely
